Do not fight God, Just stay cool and follow Him (Num.21:4-9/Ps.102/John.8:21-30)

"And the people spoke against God and against Moses, why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness. For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this worthless food" Numbers 21: 5

Human beings are always insatiable. They are always in need of something new even when you make provisions for them of the best thing there is.

We see how the people of Israel picked up a fight with God and Moses in the wilderness. They complained against God and Moses thereby committing a sin and they were punished as a result of it.

God has shown them much love and blessed them, but they were ungrateful and failed to show appreciation and admiration to God for the good He has done for them and this was counted as sin and as a result of it they were bitten by the serpent and they started dieing. However, when the people realised that they have sinned and asked Moses to intercede on their behalf, Moses did and God showed them mercy and instructed him to make a bronze serpent and set it up as a sign and those who looked up to it shall live.

We must learn to be patient with God and follow Him wherever and however he leads us. He knows the best and will always make us to get the best if we remain by His side. We must not fight God or those He has chosen to represent Him, we must strive to accept whatever God gives to us and we must not be ungrateful. We should respect God and whatever He does for us, we must not become anxious and as a result of that lose the patience we need to have as a virtue as we follow Him.

Any act of rebel or disobedience against God is sinful and can never do us any good. We see in the gospel reading that the attitude of the Pharisees to Jesus was one of rejection and antagonism and Jesus bluntly told them that if they fail to believe in Him they will die in their sins. This simply means that they could be saved if they will repent of their sins and accept Him without fighting everyday to destroy Him. We must accept Jesus, we must repent of our sins and return back to Jesus and seek His grace to remain faithful and steadfast in following Him.

We need to look up to Jesus whom the Father sent to come and redeem us and we must follow Him with our whole heart with enough patience that will make us receive His blessings. If we have been wounded by  sin, He can heal us and make us well again. Just trust in Him and never doubt.

Let Us Pray: Lord Jesus Christ,  give me the grace to be patient as I serve God and may My hope in you never fail me. Grant me your blessings in all that I do. Amen.
