Let The Resurrection Witnessing Begin (Acts 10:34,37-43/Ps.118/Col.3:1-4/Jn.20:1-9)

"In those days: Peter opened his mouth and said, You know the word which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after Baptism which John preached: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power and he went about doing good and healing all that were possessed by the devil,  for God was with Him" Acts 10:34,37-38

Today, is the Sunday of the Resurrection and there is joy everywhere, because Jesus is risen and was not held bound by the force of the grave and death.

We have been waiting for this day as we practiced our lenten observances and today Joy has taken over the atmosphere because He who was killed and buried has risen as He said He will do.

we see that by the power of the resurrection the apostles became witnesses to the events about the life of Christ. They proclaimed His name to all those who were listening to them. This is simply our responsibility as we rejoice and give praise to God for letting His only begotten Son to  come and die for us on the cross of calvary and also to rise from the dead displaying the glorious power of God which surpasses every other power.

This day was made by the Lord and we must rejoice and be glad in it as we have in the responsorial Psalm.  In Joy and happiness we must go out to tell people what has happened as Peter witnessed in the first reading.

It is a witnessing that must go beyond just words to practical actions. Saint Paul admonishes us in the second reading in his letter to the Colossians  to always seek the things that are above since we have also been raised with Christ. This simply means that as children of resurrection our way of living should represent light and not darkness, life and not death, goodness and not wickedness e.t.c we must be ready to show people the face of the Risen Christ in words and action, but more importantly in our action. We must keep shining out as the light at all times and in all places.

By His death and resurrection Jesus has set us free and in the same way, under His power and glory we must do the same to our brothers and sisters. We must show them the way to life and we must not let anything hold us back in carrying out this work of witnessing for Jesus who did not hold anything back in order to save us.

We must leave our old nature behind and take the new nature which Christ gives to us. We must always put on the new life in Christ as a garment and by that way people will know that we belong to Christ. We shall not let anything hold us back from rising to newness of life for the power of Jesus' resurrection has set us free from the power of sin and death. Therefore, the name of Jesus must be proclaimed everywhere in season and out of season.  We must witness with our words and actions and we must win souls for Him. This is our primary assignment and responsibility as His children and when we do it well, we will definitely get a good reward from Him in the end.

We must believe as Peter and the rest of the apostles believed when they went to the tomb. The tomb was empty, which shows that Jesus has risen as He said. Our place is no longer in the tomb, but in God's presence. We must spread the message of the light so that those who are yet to come to the light of the resurrection will through our witnessing come to Know Him who died and rose from the dead in order to bring us salvation, that is, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Let Us Pray: Lord Jesus, give me the grace to go out and witness about your resurrection to all men and women of our world and may the power that made you rise from the dead be made manifest in me at all times. Amen
