Saint Paul in the first reading of this morning enjoins us to be generous just as Christ was generous. Though He was rich, yet for our sake He became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich. The example of Christ in generousity extends to everything He did including His dying on the cross, the love and care He gave to those who came to Him, the forgiveness and mercy He showed to sinners e.t.c. It is this wonderful attidude of our Lord Jesus Christ that we are going to emulate as children of God so that we will be like our Father who is in heaven. It is His generousity that made Him offer His life on the cross for our salvation and if we are going to be His true disciples we must be ready to offer ourselves and sacrifice our life for the salvation of others who are yet to come to know Him. The Joy Of Marriage (James 5:9-14/Ps.103/Mark 10:1-12)

We see in Jesus'answer to the pharisees who came to test Him the real meaning of marriage and what He expects of those who enter into marriage. By the fact that Jesus quoted for them what is written in the book of Genesis about marriage shows us the importance of the institution of marriage and that the coming together of a couple to form a family is a very beautiful act that pleases the lord. When people get married, the whole atmosphere is filled with joy and love, however, sometimes as the couple continues to live together we tend to hear in some cases one or two issues of disagreement which if not checked and worked upon could deteriorate to the point where one of the couple or both could seek for divorce. We could see that God has no plans for couples to divorce, but that they should live together as one, educate their children and bring them up in the fear of the Lord. The greatest Among You must be your servant(Jer.18:18-20/Ps.31/Matt.20:17-28)

" It shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave" Matthew 20:26-27 This is the true meaning of love according to our Lord Jesus Christ. If we want to show God that we love Him and we wish to be good leaders to others, we must be ready to place ourselves at the service of others and our community. God's definition of greatness is different from ours, because we look at appearance to determine who is great, but God looks at our heart and actions. Jesus laid it bare to the disciples that the ones who desire the be the greatest must be the servant of all and any one who chooses to be the first must be the slave to all. This simply means that if we intend to be counted among the great in the sight of God, we must be ready to put ourselves at the service of others.
