The greatest Among You must be your servant(Jer.18:18-20/Ps.31/Matt.20:17-28)

" It shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave" Matthew 20:26-27

This is the true meaning of love according to our Lord Jesus Christ. If we want to show God that we love Him and we wish to be good leaders to others, we must be ready to place ourselves at the service of others and our community.

God's definition of greatness is different from ours, because we look at appearance to determine who is great, but God looks at our heart and actions.

Jesus laid it bare to the disciples that the ones who desire the be the greatest must be the servant of all and any one who chooses to be the first must be the slave to all. This simply means that if we intend to be counted among the great in the sight of God, we must be ready to put ourselves at the service of others.

Jesus has shown us an example, because He placed Himself at our service and laid down His life as a ransom for many and today His name is the greatest of all names and He is seated at the right hand of God the Father. If we have the same mind He had, we will use our gifts and treasures to serve humanity and God will reward us with eternal life and we will be counted among the great.

However, if we let our minds be led astray to seek greatness by acquiring wealth and positions, but refusing to place them at the service of others, we will lose our reward.

To think to be great is good but if we must be great it has to be in God's terms, otherwise our greatness will only be in this world and not in the sight of God and in His kingdom. Service to Humanity is one of the perfect ways to be the first in God's sight and anyone who wish to be the greatest must be the slave to all. There is no other way than that and Jesus has shown us that example. It is left for us to either accept it or reject it.

Let Us Pray: Lord Jesus Christ, help me to make myself available for your service in humanity. May the work I do merit me a place in your kingdom. Amen.
